The programme will start with a quiz on the responsibilities of Governance. We will then move on to how the Governing Body can hold senior staff with responsibilities accountable. I will then hold a discussion on the various ways of ensuring when support should be given but also when Heads and senior staff should be challenged, as well as how the role of being a 'critical friend' might be carried out.
Course Aims:
- To further understand the responsibilities of Governors and the ways in which they might hold the Head and senior staff to account.
- How Governors can carry out their role of being a 'critical friend' of the school.
- Practical ways in which both support and challenges can be focused to ensure the aims of the school are met and pupils' outcomes are the best they can be.
