The programme will start with a quiz on the responsibilities of Governance. We will then move on to how the Governing Body can hold senior staff with responsibilities accountable. I will then hold a discussion on the various ways of ensuring when support should be given but also when Heads and senior staff should be challenged, as well as how the role of being a 'critical friend' might be carried out.

Course Aims:

  1. To further understand the responsibilities of Governors and the ways in which they might hold the Head and senior staff to account.
  2.  How Governors can carry out their role of being a 'critical friend' of the school.
  3.  Practical ways in which both support and challenges can be focused to ensure the aims of the school are met and pupils' outcomes are the best they can be.
