Who we are
Staff: HQ
The Association is made up of 16 colleagues who work from our Head Quarters in Great Chesterford, Essex. HQ Staff organise and manage the implementation of all ISA services.
Staff: Regional Ambassadors
There are 7 Regional Ambassadors, who work remotely to represent each ISA Area. They offer an additional level of support for our Members and provide pastoral visits to all schools on a yearly basis.
President: Lord Lexden
This is an honorary role, elected by the Membership with a five-year term of office. Lord Lexden OBE represents the Association in the House of Lords.
Executive Council
The Executive Council comprises approximately 27 Member Heads and Honorary Members. They are Trustees of the Association who meet regularly to consider the issues that most affect independent education, as well as how we can improve the services that we provide for our Members and the wider educational community.
Committees
There are 8 committees that cover areas such as Inspections, Education, Inclusion and Finance. Committee meetings are 3 times a year, mostly by Zoom, and help to facilitate the function of the Executive Council.
Area Committees
Committees are in place for each of the 7 regions, who provide local support and advice to new and existing Members. They are run on a voluntary basis by ISA Members and teaching staff, who run their own activities, sport and art competition qualifiers, and committee meetings.
ISA Representatives on External Bodies
A number of Members are appointed to represent ISA on external educational bodies. If you have issues that you would like to be raised at a national level, you may contact the relevant ISA representative.
Honorary Members
Honorary membership is awarded to any person, who in the judgement of the Executive Council, has rendered long and distinguished service to the Association at national or area level.
