Leaders will be empowered to understand a whole-school approach to antiracism and how to address it at leadership level (ethos and values), through curriculum work and resourcing, recruitment, retention and development of staff and stakeholder feedback. Leaders will develop key skills to support and train their colleagues to understand what racism is, the impact of racialised language, how to become racially literate, structural and institutional racism and explore strategies for addressing pushback and challenge.

Aims of the course

  1. Become more self-aware and develop an antiracist lens and approach by improving knowledge about what resources to use to support, review and develop this work.
  2. Increase knowledge and understanding about racial inequality in Britain and understand key areas for concern and understand the action required in schools/settings.
  3. Feel confident about a strategic approach to creating an antiracist school/setting and be prepared to lead and challenge colleagues.
